Today came across as a very, very New York day.

Last night brought drinks at Mona's with nyc friends on account of me going away. I ended drinking by three with an hour or so of me babbling stories to my older brother. (I can be chatty when I'm drunk).

I was some kind of hungover this morning, so Chris's 1PM birthday thing became Chris's 3PM birthday thing. I left early too, partially to start moving, which didn't really happen, and partially because I was not functioning conversationally on account of the night before. yikes.

On the way home, I walked throught Washington Square park. There were performers out and about, including the usual street dancers, and also a sketchy homeless-lookin old guy singing with an amazing amazing voice.

Back home at the Village, I saw that the Howl festival is this week. Howl is a relatively new East Village Arts fest in Thompkins Square. You should go. I mean, not all of the art is great, but a lot is really interesting.

Sleep was at five and continued until Dave O's sketch comedy show. Tonight was their first performance, and for a first performance, it was pretty good. Little bits of humor that I know to be Dave O. humor kept creeping out. in a good way.

Wendy spotted me at the show, and we talked for a couple of hours after, some with Dave O, but mostly with eachother. There were some nice RPCVs there that I introduced myself to before leaving somewhat rudely :( for pool.

On the way home, I got fries from the pommes frites place on 2nd Ave I always meant to go to but never did, saw the Howl art again, and went home.

My point of all this is that none of this was really in the plans, but its all very NYC in a way I'll miss in a week. I never do something specific habitually on the weekends, but its nyc, and things come up. The options are spectacular and seemingly endless. and today, despite the hangover, was chock full of moments like this.
